On last day in Bhopal I accidently woke up late and by the time I
got done with breakfast it was already noon, thus I decided to visit some nearby places. Upon asking, the front desk staff recommended me to visit the Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi in
Though it was not exactly close to my hotel they said I could go and come back in a few hours. I was aware that Bhopal and other regions in the state of Madhya Pradesh have many Buddhist shrines, but the Buddhist monuments at Sanchi Bhopal were exceptionally splendid.
It was quite sunny outside thus I didn’t feel like walking and took an auto rickshaw instead. The driver was familiar with the location and dropped me right outside the place.
Even from outside the marvelous monument was clearly visible. In fact, it was one of the largest Stupas I have ever seen. No doubt, the view of
the great monument fascinated me instantly.
As I walked inside towards the Great Stupa, which is the oldest stone monument in India, I was able to realize its size. It was really enormous and enthralling. The serene environment of the place was quite refreshing. When exploring the structures, I came to know that these monuments were built during the 3rd Century.
As a matter of fact, it was the emperor Asoka himself who commissioned the construction of these monuments. After strolling around the monuments capturing them in pictures and I went back to my hotel.
Though the monuments helped me relax and feel calm I was also very tired. thus I decided to take a quick nap .
No doubt, I was feeling more spiritual now. But yes, I was a little tired as well. So, after a quick nap, I headed straight to the in-house restaurant.
