I am a resident of the city of Delhi and hence am very well aware of the beauty and grandeur of the famous mosque, Jama Masjid. I was quite delighted to discover that there is also a monument
named as Jama Masjid in the city of Nagpur. I immediately made up my mind to pay a visit this place of worship of the Muslims. I was very sure that like the one in Delhi even this monument would
have been built with great precision and toil and the architecture will reveal the same. I grabbed my camera and headed towards this tourist attraction in Nagpur.
Built up of concrete this mosque is a heritage of the ancient Islamic followers. It has a beautifully carved dome and four minarets to support the main structure. The whole building is white in colour and gives a very divine and serene picture. It is a huge mosque that can accommodate as many as 2000 people at once. The dome itself is 7 meters high and the minarets are as tall as 80 feet. The splendid Islamic style of architecture is definitely commendable.
This famous mosque is located in the Mominpura area of Nagpur city. It has a beautiful and lush green garden outside it in the north direction
whereas the southern part is dedicated to vehicle parking. This mosque dates back to around 200 years in the past and hence is a reat archaeological and religious heritage for the city. This
mosque is situated just at a distance of 1.5 kilometres to the east from the Nagpur railway station and is also commutable via public transport.
As I visited the Jama Masjid I was amazed to see such huge volume of devotees who had flooded the mosque in search of spiritual peace and solace. Even though the mosque was crowded there was a positive energy in the vicinity that was soothing to the soul. The divine smell of the incense sticks added to the calmness and spirituality of the mosque. I could very clearly see how hundreds of devotees come to religious places in search of an answer to their prayers and how much they believe on the presence of the all encompassing and omnipotent virtues of god.
