I am an automobile enthusiast. I like speed and thrill. The signature if a car for me is its charm apart from its power. The cars of the days gone by are not called vintage for nothing. They are
a spectacular show f the human endeavour for speed, beauty and progress. In Delhi I am usually surrounded by cars, but today’s cars are more about efficiency.
It also represents a shift in the combined focus of mankind as a race. Cars of the 19th and early 20th century were more than just mean machines; they were pieces of art and craftsmanship. A car maker gave vent to his passions and ideas through his designs just like any other artist does.
I decided to visit the Auto World Vintage Car Museum located in the outskirts of Ahmedabad because I wanted to experience the way the roads of the last century looked decorated with the vintage cars. Rolls Royce to Volkswagen and Ford, all the classic masterpieces are well preserved in the museum. The best part is that the museum is easily accessible by AC buses from Ahmedabad. The museum is just 30 km or 1 hr away from the city center by bus. I went to the museum early in the morning as it is already open by 8 am so that I could spend as much time as I could and explore as much as I could.
The best feature of the Auto World Car Museum is that is even allows you to get a drive in some of these vintage cars. This is a royal experience. I can sit and travel on the serene roads of outer Ahmedabad for days. The trained drivers are also experts on their respective cars. They can tell you everything about every nut and bolt of the cars, where it came from, when it was built and much more.
It was a rich experience and I could also take photographs of these beautiful designing marvels by paying a nominal price. I am a photography
enthusiast and these pictures are going to one of my proudest collection. I will recommend the Auto World Museum, Ahmedabad to all who intend to visit the city.
