A quick transportation to the Bailey Road in Patna by the local taxi got me just in prime time to enter the Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan. The cafeteria grabbed my attention immediately and I sat for some time to grab some food. The food was surprisingly quite delicious and while eating I began to take in the surroundings. I have known this place was very much in news for the breeding of Rhinoceros. But was it just famous for the mating of wild animals or something else too? The number of young men and women who could be observed there with their locked hands confirmed that the place is famous for wild life mating and human dating!

Jokes aside, the place seriously has made great progress with animals. There can be seen many animals in the precinct who are kept well with habitats, which are made to look like the wild that the animals are habituated to. There are lions, deer, elephants, bears, monkeys, tigers, leopards, peacocks, and many others. Even though the park was nearing its closure time but there were people ushering in from the main gates with children, all excited to see some of the lovely animals. It felt like childhood returning in me too when the prime attraction in life was the bi-annual visit to the zoo, which kept us awake in the nights with anticipation.

The Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan has garnered quite a bit of popularity because of its unique and successful methods, which aided in rhino breeding. In fact, there has been global recognition with regard to this too. The horticultural aspect of the park is very impressive. It is said that there are 300 species of trees, which created a remarkable fauna. There is a nursery that fosters some of the medicinal plants, which creates a lovely spot for the locals to have picnics. I quickly visited the aquarium and as the sun was winding up the day’s affairs, I too began to feel weary with the walking. The next day, Patna Museum was in my radar and I looked forward to it.
