After my hectic training time- table these past few months, I was very keen to wash away the grime of my daily routine and have a chilled out vacation. Little did I know that my holiday would really be a ‘chilly’ one; at Shimla! A couple of friends, three of them to be precise, had been planning a trip to this wonderful hill station in February and I certainly was game for it. February is certainly one of the best times to visit Shimla, you can get the thrill of enjoying the snowfall, and the same time, the temperature is much more tolerable than the biting cold of December. Since Shimla isn’t too far by road, we decided to book bus tickets. We chose City Land travels who operate bus services to all the most popular tourist locations in North India.
They have bus services to 18 destinations, including Jammu, Katra, Dharamsala, Shimla, Kangra, Kanpur, Jaipur and Lucknow. The bus for Shimla is once a day and has a departure time of 9.00 pm in the night. The tickets are at a very nominal price. All the buses are air- conditioned and the seats are clean and comfortable. Considering that I like to travel in luxury, City Land Travels was the perfect choice! We booked our bus tickets through one of the online travel websites. Since all of us are working, and it is convenient to book online, we went ahead and reserved our seats in the bus to Shimla. The tickets can also be booked through any travel agency.
One can also visit the official website of City Land Travels, which has an online booking facility for travelers. All one has to do is key in the ‘To’ and ‘From’ locations and the journey date and the bus availability is displayed. They have a helpline number and a special number for queries related to e- bookings. While they offer a variety of tour packages that are pocket- friendly, we opted to explore the beautiful destination of Shimla by ourselves. The journey time from Delhi is approximately 8 hours, plus or minus one hour. I was extremely excited to begin my journey with my friends! The snowy peaks of the Himalayas were beckoning us and once we got into the bus that night, our enthusiasm was at an all- time high!!
